Disregard got the 17.11.07 firmware in now. Phew Likewise, just installed the update today, finally, and all seems good. Ordered the maps update on USB for $158, so will soon find out how well that works. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. The internet will always be the fastest to spread the word about bugs and problems, especially from software updates. If the consensus is a “GO”, then install the update and upgrade to Uconnect version 17.11.07.
I'll just wait and see if the OTA update turns up - it ran much faster running as OTA than trying to download to USB, unpack the file, then install it. Update 1: UCONNECT8.4ARA317.43.01MY16NAFTA. I have had continued issues with my vehicle for over four months. It started as noticing the 'favorite artist' button not working on the vehicle correctly. It then changed to the screen restarting while I was driving down the road, sometimes multiple times. It then progressed to the backup camera freezing, which has almost caused multiple accidents. The dealership upgraded the software, replaced the backup camera, and most recently replaced the radio itself. After multiple visits and time spent waiting for my vehicle to be fixed under warranty, there doesn't seem to be anything else they can do to fix my problem. I believe my vehicle is a lemon, and I do not feel safe with the electrical issues. Since testing and getting replacement parts, my vehicle continues to restart its screen randomly, the backup camera freezes, and the artist button does not work half the time. The screen restarting mid drive freaks me out because it just stops and restarts, and the backup issue is a major safety concern. It often stays frozen for long periods of time. (not able to upload video evidence, only picture of screen). Screen at one point wouldn't let me back up without turning off the parking sensors because it thought their was something behind the car, and there was physically nothing to make the sensor think that way. Have had multiple service calls trying to fix the issue and am now going to venture down the lemon law lane.

During routine visits to my neighborhood supermarket, I've noticed while driving the rpm meter was going up and down at a stand-still. Now the vehicle was maintenance regularly and I have had issues before I've replaced the egr valve, throttle position sensor, spark plugs, pcv valve, automatic transmission oil cooler, a/c compressor even replaced the crankshaft position sensor. The truck also seems to lack power either that being an old software that it is using or the overall drivetrain is just abysmal. There also seems to be a loud thud that comes from directly under the vehicle when engaging p r n & d. Either the bushings are worn or the driveshaft is worn. The truck has been multi point checked at a local cdj dealership and it passed. Also the ignition switch was replaced on a recall. Going at low rpms, I also noticed that when going from 15-30 mph there seems to be a delay in travel as the truck will seem to be lagging or wants to slow down when my foot isn't on the accelerator. When in motion, going around 60-80 mph, the vehicle seems to have a moderate shake as in it vibrates from the undercarriage into the cabin area. It will feel like you're on a rollercoaster and the vehicle is just rumbling down the road. It feels safe at times, but when the service 4wd light appears it becomes almost frightening to drive the truck as it requires more attention then any other vehicle I've encountered. Also going back to the lag, you'll hear a chain-like sound as if the differential has an issue. I've gotten most of the front-end replaced: tire-rods, ball-joints, cv-shafts/axles, struts, stabilizer links and more. Now when turning the truck, there seems to be a lack of power as well. I had the battery and alternator tested and they both came back good. I find it hard to believe that internally the truck just wasn't meant to hold up.

On 12/23/2020 at 6:00am I was driving on long point road when the vehicle completely shutdown - all electrical, engine, lights, breaks, etc. I was driving at approx. 30mph heading towards a round-about when everything shutdown. The loss of power resulted in not being able to slow down. Luckily there weren't any cars in the round-about when I entered. However, it was a rather tight round-about and was not able to make the turn and I went over the curb and drove straight through the middle of the round-about. . The car restarted after about 3 seconds and the check engine light came on. Once the car restarted, acceleration was extremely limited. I continued to proceeded down long point road until I could pull off. About 1-2 minutes after the first power failure, another power failure/complete shut down occurred. The second power shutdown lasted about 5-7 seconds and turned back on. I immediately pulled off and shut the car off and let it sit for several minutes. When I restarted it, the check engine light was on, but went off after several hours. It's worth noting, I just received the ecodeisel software updated (I think v7). This update was performed on 12/21/20.

Our Jeep's shifter occasionally refuses to go into 'park' after coming to a complete stop and will not go into park even after opening the driver door which is supposed to automatically happen based on the fix in safety recall s27/NHTSA 16v-240. The Jeep dealership told me there is a short in the shifter but the repair wouldn't be covered because the safety recall was only for a 'software' issue not a 'mechanical' issue with the shifter. Either way, it is a safety hazard that we can not safely park our vehicle and we are experiencing something that should have been fixed in the mentioned safety recall, but wasn't.

Refer to fca 'star case' s1908000157. Unauthorized, unrequested, unsolicited and unwarranted over-the-air update to uconnect system failed, and 'bricked the system. Safety issues include: - hands-free phone system non-functional. - navigation system no longer available. - emergency service features not available. Please note that there are other failings, but are not known to be safety issues, per se. These problems persist at all times, whether the vehicle is stationary or in motion. Uncertain what other vehicle systems this affects. There is no geographic location dependency on the issue. Vehicle operation is pending further understanding of potential risks, and issue correction by fca. Fca customer service (3rd party to fca), claims that there is no over-the-air solution to this update failure. They were unable to reach management level personnel at nearest dealership to generate issue awareness. Dealers claim no awareness or knowledge of issue, and are seeking fees for diagnosis and correction of issue. As the outright owner of the vehicle, what can be done to terminate fca from conducting any further unauthorized vehicle software updates? all purchase terms have been legally reviewed, and there is no binding agreement that allows fca or affiliates to conduct any vehicle modifications - including software changes - without owner permission. It has been learned in the last 24 hours, that this issue has become chronic affecting a large number of vehicles. Wait times in contacting fca customer service are indicative of the extent of the problem, forcing owners to wait on hold for service up to an hour. Vehicle is currently considered non-operable, until further understanding of risks are understood. Seeking TSB for issue.

Software problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 7
Since the last recall for the Jeep eco deisel the system has been running the deisel exhaust regeneration at least once a week (8 times in 7 weeks since the recall update was performed). I took it to the dealership again, they performed a manual regeneration and this did not solve the problem, it started it again a week later. This means I have to drive my car at highway speeds for at least 10-15 minutes to get it to shut off (even though it doesn't actually regenerate the filter) and my engine is overworking and lagging. The dealership said it is a software problem that since the recall everyone with the Jeep eco diesels is complaining of.
Software problem of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 8
The car was in eco mode. The car was driving on a residential street and was stopped for a train crossing. When the gas pedal was used to go forward the engine raced quickly to 4500 rpms and would not slow down until manually placed in neutral for several seconds. After driving on interstate 135 and coming to a stop at an exit, the car went into eco mode, when the gas pedal was used to put the car into motion the engine raced to 6000 rpms and was trying to accelerate to an unsafe speed. The engine would not slow down. This has happened 4 times in the last 3 weeks. The dealership was notified. Attempts we were told were to diagnose this problem, but the issue has not been resolved. An update on software was done after the first two issues of the uninitiated accelerated rpms of the engine occurred. After software was updated there have been two uninitiated accelerations of the rpms. We were concerned for uncontrolled accelerations of the vehicle. The dealership has been notified of our concerns, however a resolution hasn't been done. We are concerned for safety. This has happened on august7 (twice), August 10, August 20.

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been submitted to the dealership for a faulty sos feature. The sos does not connect to emergency services and does not shut off. The system stays engaged until a fuse is pulled in the battery compartment under the front passenger seat. Multiple submissions and 'star tickets' have not produced correction and star tickets cancelled multiple times by the oem. There are service bulletins, but nothing is resolving this. Oem not taking this as a serious safety issue. If something should occur, the vehicle's safety response service will not be able to do anything for occupants of the vehicle. It is very upsetting that the oem has not fixed a software issue and will not allow the dealership to replace the radio with one that actually provides the proper connection to emergency services. This is a defect in the product that the oem has had over 18 months to fix since this vehicle was manufactured.
Software problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 14
My 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee has an expansion valve leak, which is leaking into the vehicle (since fca decided to install the expansion valve in the car behind the dashboard). The leak is a serious health risk and environmental risk. The system also makes a constant humming noise since its low on freon. I had it fully recharged and in a matter of months all of the freon leaked into my car! this is poisonous gas leaking into peoples vehicles!! I called my local dealership and they quoted me upwards of $1,700 to fix the issue, which based on other online postings by Jeep Grand Cherokee owners seems to be a common issue with the car. I have also recently updated the car's uconnect software to the most recent version released, and now my 911 phone option and navigation system no longer works. My understand is that uconnect software was updated to use 4g technology, but my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 2015 3g technology. I don't understand why fca would punish their loyal customers by pushing this type of upgrade, in the process completely making their customers navigation systems useless. Apparently the parts alone are in the $1,000 + range to replace the entire navigation unit. The 911 phone option should at a minimum be a safety requirement, and fca pushing their software upgrade completely disabled this. I called uconnect but they are of no help. I have been a long time Jeep owner, purchasing different models over the year, but I don't think I will be able to buy another Jeep if fca can't stand behind their product.

Brand new Grand Cherokee, only 400 miles, today my backup camera stopped working. On the display I have an icon 'backup camera' when attempting to click this the backup camera would not pop-up. Turned the car off and kept it off for 10 minutes, re-started the car, the Jeep display does not pop-up with the safety notification and the backup camera does not come on the screen when the car is placed in reverse. It was working fine the last week and a half and all of a sudden this morning it will not work. I called Jeep and they are unsure what it is and may be a software update. I just paid $60,000 dollars and have had the car for 6 days and the backup camera is not working now!.

Since the day I purchased the vehicle, every time I start my car, the radio is on nearly at full volume. The car plays the same station at the same high volume. It does not matter if when I shut off the vehicle, the radio is off, or the radio is on. It also does not matter if I remotely start the vehicle or start while I'm in the car. The system should be designed so that the radio is always off when the vehicle is first started. Poor design. Should I expect a tesla like response by expecting Chrysler to send a software patch via satellite directly to my vehicle to update this issue? btw, the dealer told me this is expected behavior.

Software problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee 20
Took my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee to arrigo Chrysler Dodge Jeep for 2 recalls in September 2016 one wiring issue in the visor and one fuel pump relay. Dealer informed me recalls were remedied. December 16, 2016 I was experiencing problems starting vehicle and problems with vehicle sputtering while driving and while stopped. Took car back to arrigo to diagnose problem. Was told problem was fuel pump relay at cost of approximately $650. Expressed my concerns that although recalls were recorded as 'performed' in their system, car was not properly repaired. Service advisor told me there was nothing else wrong with my vehicle and the recall actually took place June 2015. That is incorrect as I called fca and they in fact verified that in their system, recall was entered as 'completed' in September 2016 at same dealer, arrigo. Called arrigo and service advisor said he re-checked the vehicle and the fuel pump relay was actually in good shape, it was serviced in September 2016. He said the reason the check engine light was on was because the software needed updated and the check engine light would be okay and the vehicle was performing 'as it is designed to work' having no other problems. I hesitantly paid $75 to have the 'software updated' to avoid the $150 diagnostic fee if there is no service. One hour after I paid and left the dealer the check engine light came on and the vehicle began acting exactly like it had before 'servicing' at the dealer. Also later in the evening I tried starting the car and noticed the car would continue to crank without turning the vehicle on. Again, the same problem I had before I took my car in. I believe no action was taken in repairing recall issues and they are trying to make customers pay ($650 in my case) to actually make the repairs.

Software problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 26
I have a recurring problem with my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has been going on for a period of 17 months. My problem started in may, 2016 when my navigation system failed by giving me the wrong information by instructing me to turn into a one way (wrong way) traffic lane. This has since happened many times since then by directing me incorrectly. The complete navigation system, clock & compass, periodically don't work. On occasion I receive the following message on my vehicle's computer screen 'vehicle phone requires service please contact your dealer. ' after numerous appointments with the dealer & telling them that the problem is not with my phone they finally said they could not repair the problem and gave me an 800 number to call the manufacturer customer service. After numerous discussions with various customer service people over a period of two months, on 9/28/2017 customer service person patricia said there is nothing they can do to repair the vehicle however that a 'Jeep service bulletin #08-028-17 with updates to software level 17. 11. 07 will occur in a phased roll-out and maybe the problem will go away. ' they told me I would receive download instructions but could not tell me when these instructions would be sent out. The system will work periodically but fails more often than not. Yesterday I was again using the navigation in an area that I unfamiliar with and the system again tried to route me into oncoming traffic.
Software problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 27
We have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and recently had the software patch installed that was supposed to prevent the car from moving when the driver¿s door is open. This was the condition that killed the actor recently. Since the patch was installed there is an intermittent problem. When one gets in the vehicle and you attempt to open the hatchback either from the driver¿s seat or from the tailgate it won¿t open. In addition once you start the vehicle the center console screen is completely black, and the front side windows won¿t work (the rear seat ones do) nor will the buttons on the door work that are supposed to reposition the drivers seat for different drivers. You have to place the car in gear and move it before all these features start working. The other problem is the whole purpose of the software patch was prevent the vehicle from moving if the driver¿s door is open and it is in gear. They got that half right. The car won¿t move forward with the door open, but it goes in reverse just fine. Just exactly the situation that killed the actor. We took the car into the dealership twice to correct the problem with the patch. They reinstalled the software patch but nothing is changed and reflashed the body control module, but the problem remains. The problem is intermittent, occurring several times a week, but has not reproduced itself in the dealership. As an engineer it is obvious to me that the problem is related to the software patch that Chrysler rushed to distribute after the negative publicity associated with actor who was killed. I have reported the problem to Chrysler in addition to the dealership and Chrysler insists the problem is unique. I don't believe it. I believe the patch was rushed to installation and doors that won't open and windows that won't go up or down are going to end up killing somebody.

Vehicle has completely shut down while driving 5 times in the recent past. 1x19 oct; 2x31 oct; 2x7nov. The vehicle completely shuts off while driving. This is very dangerous as all power is lost for breaks, steering, and obviously no acceleration. Chrysler safety recall p54 has been applied prior to these issues. Dealer and Chrysler are charging me customer (at my expense) to flash new software files on the vehicle computers. I sense this is very likely a much broader safety issue and am hoping our government (NHTSA) officials will investigate before someone is injured as a result of this.

About 18 months ago the NHTSA had issued an advisory bulletin suggesting that automakers reduce or eliminate onboard info systems due to distracted drivers, in the meantime more complex systems have been installed by said and with the most recent hacking of the onboard ecm's as well as driving controls, I question will you possibly follow through with a mandate to cease these systems from being installed seeing that hackers through the bluetooth systems also onboard be eliminated to stop possible horrific accidents from happening. I understand that many are now issuing new software updates that are supposed to stop this from happening, however hackers have ' backdoor methods ' to still be able to access a cars system and with all the cyber crime taking place today , the elimination of these systems would be a sure fire way to stop it. A going back to a more simpler time when these issues didn't exist say pre 2003 standards. As a concerned consumer I am very worried that some very bad things are going to continue to happen and put my family ( as well as others ) at great risk. I would implore you to seriously consider stopping these systems from being installed in any newer cars that are planned for release, you timely decision would be greatly appreciated , thank you for your time.

- Please ensure that you see a NAV button on the home screen of your radio before proceeding. If you do not have NAV on your Uconnect system you should not continue.
- Uconnect 8.4A (RA3) systems that did not come with Navigation at purchase, can activate it by clicking here, or visit your local FCA Dealership.
A SOFTWARE UPDATE IS REQUIRED BEFORE PURCHASE:
A Uconnect Software Update must be performed before a map update can be purchased and installed. You will not be able to activate your map update if this software is not installed. Please follow the instructions below to update/check your software before purchasing your map update.
Section 1: Updating your Uconnect Software
The Uconnect Software must be updated prior to completing your map update. Vehicles with Uconnect 8.4A (RA3) or 8.4AN (RA4) will receive an over-the-air software update if it is not running the latest version of software.
NOTE: This is a software update, not the map update. Your vehicle may have already received this software update – you can confirm at the link below.
